Mickie Alburquerque

President

 

Miguel (Mickie) Alburquerque was born in Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic. He is an actor, singer and graphic designer. He has been the president of the board of directors of Teatro TEBA since 1996. Due to his artistic versatility he has had the opportunity to work with various theater groups in New York, among them, La TEA, Upper Manhattan Theater, Actores Unidos, LUPA, LATE and Producciones Latinoamericanas. Mr. Albuerque made his film debut in the independent film "El círculo vicioso", directed by Nelson Peña and produced in New York. For television, he worked in the pilot "Por amor a Andreína" by Producciones Latinoamericanas. He has also worked in various local television shows as an actor and singer.

In 1995, after completing the course of studies at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, he received the Friars Award as most outstanding student. Mickie has also studied with Victoria Espinoza for Actores Unidos and with Héctor Luis Rivera for LATE and TEBA. Mr. Alburquerque received the ACE (Association of Critics of Entertainment) Award as best supporting actor for his interpretation  of Sirena in the world premier of "La última poesía del continente".

Among his creditsare: "Edipo Rey", "Seven Against Thebes", "El señor presidente", "A Solid Home", "I am la Julieta de Lorca", "La brujita verde", "¿Quien está loco aquí?", and the lead in "Historia de él".
